Frequently asked questions

What is a good readability score for SEO?

Most successful web content scores between 60 and 70 (roughly 8th–9th grade). This keeps pages accessible to a wide audience while still sounding professional.

Does readability affect rankings?

Google does not use a readability score as a direct ranking factor, but clear writing improves time on page, reduces bounce rate, and makes content easier for AI answer engines to understand and cite.

Is this the same as Flesch-Kincaid?

Yes. This tool reports both the Flesch Reading Ease score and the Flesch-Kincaid Grade Level, the two most widely used readability formulas.
